A Southland Holdings company is currently accepting resumes for highly motivated Tunnel Mechanic to join our team in Burleson, TX. The ideal mechanic will have 3 to 5 years of experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assist in the setup, inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment used in tunnel construction, including ventilation, hydraulic, and drilling systems.
• Load and unload tools, machinery, and mechanical components required for tunnel operations.
• Conduct routine checks on equipment to identify and report mechanical issues or safety hazards.
• Follow all site-specific safety procedures and OSHA regulations, particularly those related to working in confined or underground spaces.
• Perform other related duties as assigned, including general labor or support tasks as needed by tunnel operations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
• Thorough understanding of construction principles and methods.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Education and Experience:
• Minimum 3-5 years of tunnel experience.
• Experience in fabrication or welding is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
• Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
